Urgent need for AI-enabled  traffic signals at key junctions

January 5, 2026

Sir,

I am writing to draw the attention of the city authorities and the Traffic Police to the increasingly chaotic traffic situation at two critical junctions in Mysuru — Sri Lakshmi Venkataramanaswamy Temple Junction, V.V. Mohalla and the vicinity of Akashvani Circle, Yadavagiri.

Currently, the traffic signal flow at these points is inadequate, leading to significant congestion, long wait times and a general state of confusion for commuters, as there is no proper, balanced traffic flow for all incoming and outgoing lanes.

This is not only frustrating but also poses a serious safety risk to pedestrians and motorists alike.

I would like to urge the authorities to look towards the successful models implemented in neighbouring cities. Specifically, Bengaluru has adopted AI-enabled Volumetric Adaptive Control (VAC) systems for very smooth and efficient vehicular movement.

Implementing this advanced AI-enabled technology at the Sri Lakshmi Venkataramanaswamy Temple Junction and Akashvani Circle in Mysuru would bring multiple benefits:

1. Optimised Flow: Signals would dynamically adjust based on real-time traffic volume, significantly reducing bottlenecks.

2. Enhanced Safety: A clearer, regulated flow of traffic would inherently enable extra safety for everyone on the road.

We request the city administration to prioritise the upgrade of these specific junctions with modern, adaptive traffic management technology. A smart city requires smart traffic solutions.
