Vasundharotsava: Five-day Classical Dance and Music Extravaganza from Dec. 28

Mysore/Mysuru: Vasundhara Performing Arts Centre (VPAC), Mysuru, has organised Vasundharotsava-2020, the 34th edition of national festival of classical dance and music from Dec. 28 to Jan. 1 at Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha, JLB Road, between 5.30 pm and 8.30 pm each day.

Rangayana Director Addanda C. Cariappa will inaugurate the programme on Dec. 28 at 5.30 pm. Rtn. M.J. Swamy, President, Rotary North, Mysuru will be the chief guest. Art Patron K.V. Murthy, President, VPAC, Mysuru will preside.

The talented tiny-tots will present “Chiguru Sanje” on the day of inauguration. They are: Jeevitha – Disciple of Vidu. Premita Govind; Charvi Kashyap – Disciple of Vidu. Nagalakshmi Nagarajan; Gowri B. Rajendra – Disciple of Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy; R. Nandana and  K.S. Aditi – Disciple of Vidu. Varija Nalige; Ksithi Thakkar – Disciple of Vidu. Sujay Shanbhag, Hubballi.

The young and upcoming dancers from different parts of India who will take part in this festival are:

Kathak: Aditi Ashok and Spoorthi Ashok, Bengaluru – Disciple of Guru Nirupama          Rajendra.

Bharatanatya: Vasundhara Jamadagni – Disciple of Vid. Sandesh Bhargav;  Anusha Raj, Pooja Sagar and Amrutha Bhat.

The established dancers, gurus and choreographers who will also participate in Vasundharotsava- 2020 are:

Vidu. Dr. Lakshmi Rekha, Bengaluru – Disciple of Guru Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy; Vidu. Vidyashree Radhakrishna, Mangaluru – Disciple of late Guru Muralidhar Rao and Vid. Ramaa Vaidyanathan; Dr. K.S. Pavitra, Shivamogga (A Tribute to Rashtra Kavi Kuvempu) – Disciple of Guru Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy; Vidu. Mitra Naveen, Mysuru – Disciple of late Guru Muralidhar Rao and Guru Dr. Kripa Phadke.

Kuchupudi: Vidu. Rekha Satish – Disciple of Guru Manju Bhargavi.

On Jan.1 from 5.30 pm to 6 pm, Vid. Manasa Nayana, an established Karnatak vocalist will present a music concert followed by Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy’s solo “SHABARI”  based on “Epic Ramayan.” Concept and script is by Vidushi Dr. Jyothi Shankar while Music is scored by Vidwan Srivatsa of Bengaluru; Choreography by Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy.
