Gundlupet: Veteran politician of the taluk C.M. Shivamallappa (84), father of former Gundlupet MLA  and current Chamarajanagar District BJP President C.S. Niranjankumar, passed away here yesterday.

A native of Chowdahalli in the taluk, he leaves behind his wife Shivamma, son C.S. Niranjankumar, three daughters and a host of relatives and friends.

Born in 1941 at Chowdahalli, Shivamallappa was a Class-1 contractor by profession and had executed many dam works in the then undivided Mysuru district. He was also an associate of former MLA H.K. Shivarudrappa and former Irrigation Minister H.M. Channabasappa.

Last rites were performed at his native village Chowdahalli as per Veerashaiva-Lingayat customs on Friday afternoon.
