Each instrument is worth about Rs. 15,000
Mysore/Mysuru: In a bid to attend to water woes and solve them speedily, In-charge Mayor Anwar Baig, yesterday distributed walkie-talkies to 26 water inspectors at the MCC’s Old Council Hall here.
Sources said that the walkie-talkie, a basic handset, cost about Rs. 15,000 each and added that 50 officers including Health Officers, Executive Engineers, Revenue Officers and Environmental Engineers among others have been given advanced instruments with GPS tracker at a cost of Rs. 25,000 each.
In-charge Mayor Anwar Baig said that walkie-talkies have already been given to Health and other staff to attend to problems immediately and now, water inspectors have been walkie-talkies to attend to problems related to water supply and solve them at the earliest.
MCC Commissioner G. Lakshmikantha Reddy said that water inspectors have been provided with this communication instruments, which will help them to attend problems immediately and also to provide information to their higher officials.
As of now, these electronic gadgets have been given to the officials of Health and Revenue Departments and other staff. These instruments come in handy to communicate with the concerned staff, who in turn could attend to the problems immediately, the MCC Chief said.
