Y.S. Subramanya (75), recipient of the President’s Best Teacher Award and a native of Mysuru, passed away on Jan. 31 at his residence in Bengaluru.
He leaves behind his wife Shylaja, one son, one daughter and a host of relatives and friends. Last rites were performed in Bengaluru, according to family sources.
Subramanya had served for 36 years as a Mathematics teacher at St. Philomena’s High School and had settled in Bengaluru after retirement. He had published more than 40 books on Devatha Stotra of Adi Shankaracharya, Science and Mathematics. He used to donate a majority portion of his pension for the welfare of students in Mysuru and used to participate in Pratibha Puraskar functions, organised by his close friends in Mysuru every year.
