Gonikoppal (Kodagu): An 18-year-old youth, who was playing on the lake bund, was drowned after he slipped and fell into the lake at Nemmale village near here yesterday.

The deceased youth is Achal, a student of Lions Vidya Samsthe who had written his second PU exams recently.

On Sunday afternoon, Achal, along with his father Chattangada Viju and brother, was playing on the lake bund when Achal accidentally fell  into the lake.

Though his father and brother were at the spot, they were unable to save Achal, who drowned in front of their eyes.
