Mysuru: A youth allegedly stabbed his friend to death in drunken stupor at Bannur town on Monday night.

The deceased is Varun (23), son of Nagesh and a resident of Bannur town while the accused is Poshak, son of Narayana.

The incident took place when the two, after consuming liquor, were on their way home when wordy duel ensued between them resulting in Poshak allegedly stabbing Varun to death at about 12.30 am on Monday in front of APMC in the town, according to Police.

Varun and Poshak, along with Manoj, Chethan, Mahendra and two others, consumed liquor at a bar during which wordy duel ensued between Varun and Poshak over trivial issue. Though the issue was settled, Poshak stabbed Varun to death when they were returning home.

Bannur Police, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar, shifted the body to the Government Hospital besides registering a case. Post-mortem was conducted at the Government Hospital and the body was handed over to deceased Varun’s family members. Bannur Police have launched a hunt to nab Poshak, who is absconding.
