Youths meet watery grave at Srirangapatna

Srirangapatna: Two youths, who ventured into Cauvery River near Nimishambha Temple in the town, met their watery graves on Thursday.

The deceased youths are Vishal (19), son of Yuvaraj and Rohan (18), son of Maanu Singh, residents of Chennai.

The youths, who had come to their grandmother’s house, visited Nimishambha Temple along with their relatives, where they offered puja at the Temple.

The youths later entered Cauvery River for a swim and were caught in a whirlpool and drowned, according to Sub-Inspector Shivalinga Dalavai.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel were summoned to the spot, who fished out the bodies from the River and the Police shifted the bodies to the Government Hospital in the town for post-mortem.

Vishal and Rohan’s mothers are sisters and it is learnt that they did not know swimming.

A case has been registered in this regard at Srirangapatna Town Police Station.
