Youth’s murder case: Seven accused held within a few hours

Mysore/Mysuru: Seven persons, accused in stabbing a youth to death and injuring another have been arrested by the Police within a few hours of  the crime.

While the deceased has been identified as Sadhakath (24), a resident of Shanthinagar, the seriously injured is Haneef Baig of Ghousianagar.

Those arrested are Nithin, Dhanush, Bhaskar, Dhanush, Vignesh, Karthik alias Appi and Girish.

On Oct. 6 at about 11 pm, Sadhakath and Haneef were sipping tea near the tonga stand, opposite to Suburban Bus Stand, when a fight broke out between their friend Naushad and three others. Sadhakath and Haneef intervened and a verbal duel broke out during which Sadhakath hit one among the three persons identified as Girish.

Sadhakath, who heard Girish speaking over the phone and calling his friend Dhanush to come to the spot, took Haneef and Naushad, left from the spot and came to another pushcart selling tea near Bengaluru-Mysuru non-stop bus point at Suburban Bus stand where they were again sipping tea.

At about 12 midnight, a gang of seven youths, who came to the spot, where Sadhakath and his friends were sipping tea, began to assault them during which Naushad fled from the spot and the gang stabbed Sadhakath and Haneef with a knife. While Haneef collapsed on the spot, Sadhakath fled from the spot but collapsed near the scrap yard (gujari), near Lashkar Police Station.

Both the injured were rushed to K.R. Hospital, where Sadhakath succumbed to stab injuries.

Meanwhile, a Special Police team was formed under the guidance of City Police Commissioner Dr. Chandragupta, Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) Pradeep Gunti and M.S. Geetha Prasanna and Devaraja Sub-Division Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Shashidhar.

The Special Police team comprising Lashkar Inspector P.P. Santosh, Alanahalli Inspector Srikanth, Nazarbad Inspector Jeevan and Udayagiri Inspector Raju, who led Sub-Inspectors Gautham Gowda, Dhanalakshmi and Sunil, ASIs Siddaraju, C.K. Kumaraswamy and Doddaiah and staff Lingaraju, Manjunath, Adam, Mariswamy, Madhukesh, Rajegowda, Chinnappa, Manjunath Gadagaigola, Lalesaab Nadaf, Sathya, Mahesh, Ramesh, Srinivas, Samiulla, Mahadevaprasad, Girish and Technical Wing Head Constable Kumar, who conducted an operation, managed to arrested all the seven accused within a few hours of the crime.

The accused were produced before a Court which remanded them to judicial custody.
