July 27, 2017

Mysuru: Urging action against corrupt Vani Vilas Water Works (VVWW) Engineers & contractor, demanding to rectify mistake in second standard Kannada textbook and to rectify the snag of the online registration portal of Kattada Karmikara Kalyana Mandali, various organisations staged separate protests at many places in yesterday.

Paduvarahalli Srigandha Yuvakara Sangha: Alleging corruption of crores of rupees pertaining to the works taken up to plug leakages between 2012 and 2015, about 35 members of Paduvarahalli Srigandha Yuvakara Sangha staged a protest in front of VVWW in Yadavagiri here.

The protesters, who alleged that during 2012 to 2015, Rs. 3.42 crore worth works to stop water leakages were given to only one contractor, said that there was no rain at that time and the city was reeling under severe scarcity of water. They said that when there was no water to supply, how can there be leakages and alleged that the works were taken up just to loot taxpayers money.

The protesters also questioned that when there are many contractors at VVWW, why only one contractor was given the works continuously and added that there was a huge racket behind it and urged the Government to initiate probe besides taking action against corrupt officials in VVWW.

Ramakrishna, Dyavappanayaka, Madesh, Prabhakar, Rajesh and others were present.

Bahujan Vidyarthi Sangha (BVS): Urging the Government to recall second standard Kannada textbooks where it has been wrongly mentioned that it was Sir M. Visvesvaraya who had built KRS Dam, when it should have been Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, about 50 persons under the banner of Bahujan Vidyarthi Sangha staged a protest in front of Crawford Hall.

The protesters said that a lesson in second standard Kannada textbook states that it was Sir M. Visvesvaraya, who was the Dewan, during the erstwhile ruler of Mysuru Kingdom Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, who had built the KRS Dam and added that it was Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar who built the dam by selling his jewellery to fund for the construction of the dam.
