9 child labourers rescued

Mysore/Mysuru: In the month-long Pan India Child Labour Rescue and Rehabilitation Campaign organised by the District Administration as part of World Day Against Child Labour observed from June 1 to 30, the authorities, who raided shops and other commercial establishments across the city on June 24 and 25, have rescued nine child labourers found working there.

The rescued child labourers were produced before the Children Welfare Committee (Makkala Kalyana Samiti), following which they have been sheltered at Balamandira. Officials from the Labour, Women & Child Development, Social Welfare and Police Departments, Child Protection Unit, Special Child Protection Police Cell and staff of NGOs were present.
