Man arrested for killing wife

March 15, 2017

A man, who had killed his wife and termed it as suicide, has been arrested by Periyapatna Police, at Ankanahalli Village in the taluk yesterday.

While the accused has been identified as Veerabhadrachari, the deceased has been identified as Sarala (26). She leaves behind two daughters aged one and  four years.

It is reported that the victim Sarala, daughter of Somachari, a resident of Lakkuru village in Arakalgud taluk in Hassan district, was given in marriage to Veerabhadrachari in 2014.

Veerabhadrachari, a carpenter by profession, was driving a goods auto to make a living since a year. But since a few days, the couple used to indulge in quarrels over family issues, according  to villagers.

But yesterday morning, the body of Sarala was found hanging in the veranda of the house and it was thought that she had committed suicide.

A complaint was lodged in this regard by Sarala’s brother at Periyapatna Police Station. The Police, who visited the spot, conducted preliminary investigations during which the family members of Sarala and the villagers accused Veerabhadrachari of murdering Sarala.

The Police, who took custody of Veerabhadrachari on suspicion, interrogated him during which he is said to have confessed of killing his wife Sarala by strangulating her with a rope following which the Police arrested him.

The body of Sarala was shifted to Periyapatna General Hospital where post-mortem was conducted. The body was later handed over to her relatives.

SI Chethan has registered a case is this regard.
