90th UoM’s Inter-Collegiate Athletic Meet 2018: Sagar, Baby Sabu, Harshitha set New Meet Records

Three New Meet Records (NMR) were created on the first day of the 90th University of Mysore’s (UoM) Inter-Collegiate Athletic Meet-2018, which began at Sri Adichunchanagiri College of Arts, Commerce and Science in Nagamangala here yesterday.

Sagar of Basudeva Somani FGC created a NMR in the men’s 110m Hurdles event with a timing of 14.86s, erasing the previous mark of 14.91s set by him in 2017. Baby Sabu of Basudeva Somani FGC set a NMR in the men’s Triple-Jump with a leap of 15.26m, erasing the previous mark of 15.22m set by him in 2017. In the women’s section, W.R. Harshitha of Basudeva Somani FGC created a NMR in the Hammer-Throw event with a throw of 47.61m, erasing the previous mark of 46.04m set by her in 2017.

Earlier, the Meet was inaugurated by G.T. Devegowda, Higher Education Minister and Mysuru District in-Charge Minister. Dr. P. Krishniah, Director (in-Charge), Department of Physical Education (DPE), University of Mysore and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

Around 61 Colleges, affiliated to the University, are taking part in the Meet.

Men’s Section

110 mts Hurdles: 1. R. Sagar, B. Somani College, Mysuru; 2. Apsar Ahamed PGSC, MGM; 3. Kishor R, Bharathi College, Bharathinagar, Mandya.

Javelin-Throw: 1. P.M. Bharath, GFGC, Nagamangala; 2. B.G. Rajesh, GFGC, Nagamangala; 3. G.S. Rayston, St. Philomena’s College, Mysuru.

200 mts: 1. Suhas Gowda, B.Somani College, Mysuru; 2. N.R. Agnish; B. Somani College, Mysuru; 3. K.P. Jagadish, GFGC, Channarayapatna, Hassan.

800 mts: 1. Rahul Chudari, Sapient FGC, Mysuru; 2. Dhiraj Karumbaiah, Sapient FGC, Mysuru.

Triple-Jump: 1. Baby Sabu, B. Somani College, Mysuru; 2. N.S. Abhishek, RKFGC, K.Honalgere, Mandya; 3. Syed Irfan, St. Joseph FGC, Mysuru.

Women’s Section

800 mts: 1. K.S. Megha, Vidyodaya FGC, T. Narasipura; 2. Amrutha, Teresian College, Mysuru; 3. Shravya Teresian College, Mysuru.

100 mts Hurdles: 1. K.M. Pallavi, GFGC, Bharathi Nagar, Mandya; 2. Poojashree, GFGC for Women, Maddur, Mandya; 3. Kumuda, PGSC, MGM.

Shot-put: Meghana Devang, Maharani Art’s and Commerce College, Mysuru; 2. Ambika, Maharani Science College, Mysuru; 3. Nagarathna, GFGC for Women, Mandya.

100 mts: 1. C.R. Jayashree, Vidyodaya FGC, T. Narasipura; 2. Avinashree, Teresian  College, Mysuru; 3. G.S. Bindhu, PGSC, MGM.

High-Jump: 1. G.S. Ashvini, PGSC, MGM; 2. S.M. Sindhu, PES College, Mandya; 3. Sirigowri, SBRR MFGC.

Hammer-Throw: 1. W.R. Harshitha, B. Somani College; 2. S.R. Nagarathna, GFGC for Women, Mandya; 3. A.M. Mamatha, GFGC, Bharathinagar, Mandya.
