Mysuru: University of Mysore (UoM) and Sapna Book House, Bengaluru had organised a programme at Rani Bahadur auditorium in Manasagangothri here recently for the release of the books Vaidyakiya Vyrudyagalu and Anuvamshiya Kayilegalu written by Dr. Suttur S. Malini, Professor of Zoology, UoM.
Releasing the book, MP V. Sreenivasa Prasad opined that more importance should be given for mother tongue and regional language. He said that Kannada has a history dating back to over 2,000 years which should be the officials language in the State at all levels. He regretted that the influence of English in India has become too much with people too getting obsessed with that language.
He commended Dr. Malini in coming out with books on medicine in Kannada which is easily understood by common people. Quipping, he said that he can speak on Anuvamshiya Rajakiya (Hereditary Politics) and not on Anuvamshiya Kayilegalu (Hereditary Diseases).
UoM retired Professor S.N. Hegde spoke on the books. UoM Professors N.B. Ramachandra, Nilgiri Talwar, Ranganath and Mediwave Hospital’s Dr. C. Sharath Kumar were felicitated.
Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji graced the occasion. UoM VC Dr. G. Hemantha Kumar, KSOU VC Dr. Vidyashankar, Dr. Suttur S. Malini and others were present.
