Mysore/Mysuru: With the Government announcing a 14-day ‘COVID Curfew’ across the State to break the chain of the deadly pandemic,  all tourist spots, safaris and other tourist destinations in the city  and district have been shut for tourists and visitors.

The State Government on Monday had ordered COVID Curfew across the State from the night of Apr. 27 till 6 am on May 12.

Accordingly, the Mysuru Zoo will be closed for tourists for 15 days from today (Apr.27). However, the Zoo staff, animal caretakers  and Veterinarians will function as usual.

Likewise, the City Palace will be closed for tourists for 14 days starting from the evening of Apr. 27.

Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district will be closed completely for tourists from today till May.11.

The safaris at Bandipur, Nagarhole and K.Gudi Tiger Reserves conducted daily by the Forest Department and Jungle Lodges and Resorts, have been suspended for 14 days from today. With the suspension of Safaris, the Forest Department has planned to either return  money to those who booked tickets in advance or to allow them for free on other dates when safaris resume.

Similarly, the fortnight long curfew has taken its toll on shrines and  temples too, with the famed Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hill, Srikanteshwara Temple at Nanjangud, M.M. Hills Temple in Hanur taluk, B.R. Hills Temple in Yelandur taluk and Gopalaswamy Hill Temple in Gundlupet taluk of Chamarajanagar district have been closed for devotees till May 11.
