Rev. Bernard Moras from Mysuru writes to PM
Mysore/Mysuru: Rev. Bernard Moras, the Apostolic Administrator, Diocese of Mysore, has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to take steps for the welfare of minority Christian community and withdraw the baseless charges of human trafficking and religious conversion, made against Christian nuns Sisters Vandana Francis and Preethi Mary and others at Chhattisgarh recently.
In a memorandum addressed to the PM, submitted at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Rev. Moras has stated that, the arrest of two Kerala-based Catholic nuns (Sister Preethi Mary and Sister Vandana Francis) from the Congregation of Assisi Sisters of Mary Immaculate, who were serving selflessly in Mercy Hospital at Agra on July 25 at Durg Railway Station in Chhattisgarh, represents a clear violation of justice, Constitutional safeguards and minority rights. Despite carrying a written parental consent and accompanying adult women to employment opportunities, the Sisters were subjected to charges of trafficking and forced religious conversion accusations now widely condemned as fabricated and politically motivated.
