Bengaluru, Oct. 25- R.S. Krishnaswamy (RSK), son of late R.K. Srinivasan and nephew of acclaimed writer R.K. Narayan and renowned cartoonist R.K. Laxman, passed away here early this morning after a brief illness. He was 84.
He is survived by his sons, Chetan and Kartik. His wife, Prabha, predeceased him.
Last rites were held in Bengaluru this afternoon, according to family sources.
Popularly known as Thumbi among family and friends, Krishnaswamy was a distinguished professional who held senior leadership positions in several reputed organisations over the course of his long career.
A mechanical engineer from the National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysuru, he was admired for his intellect and commitment to excellence.
RSK also earned recognition as an international cricket commentator, lending his distinctive voice and keen understanding of the game to numerous Test matches and One-Day Internationals.
For a number of years, he served as a professor at M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Management.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Krishnaswamy was a gifted writer and ardent sports enthusiast. His weekly column, “Now on to Playgrounds,” published in Star of Mysore, was widely read and appreciated for its insight and engaging style.
A versatile and multifaceted individual, he was known for his sharp mind, biting humour and deep curiosity about life.
