I want to bring to the notice of the Railway authorities concerned a stampede-like situation that arises every time while boarding Kaveri Express train starting from Mysuru Railway Station at 9 pm.
The train starts from Platform-5 and there is a stampede-like situation every single day on the bridge to access this platform.
This is because Vishwamanava Express train arrives in Mysuru at 8.40 pm, so there is a ‘rush’ of passengers — those who are alighting versus those boarding. The situation is very serious and I have seen many vulnerable people such as small children, women and the elderly caught in this frenetic rush and getting severely crushed.
Since the Kaveri Express leaves at 9 pm, the people who are boarding will be in a panic mode and start pushing each other and this is causing a stampede-like situation. It’s only God’s grace that has saved us every time!
I’m very disturbed to note that no senior Railway official has bothered to notice this and take suitable action. One Railway Constable is seen standing doing nothing. A greater tragedy is just waiting to happen!
A simple solution is to make it one-way on the bridge which will resolve the issue or to divert these trains to another Platform.
It’s highly appalling to note that it requires the public to bring this to notice of the Railway authorities. I hope they don’t turn a blind eye any longer and take prompt action at the earliest to relieve the passengers of this frightening experience.

What can we say on the attitude of SWR? Lethargy and chalta hai. What if there is a stampede situation when train full of passengers come by Wodeyar express, or Vishwamanava express? there has been no stampede till now. SWR are waiting things to happen before getting up from deep slumber. Till such time please allow Mysuru DRM to sleep peacefully. They are aya Ram gaya Ram.

A very relevant and timely warning which I hope reaches the railway authorities. Mysore railway station had much better management till a few years ago making it one of the best in the region. God knows what happened that it has come to this sad state…
Well I pray and hope that something like the 2019 Mumbai foot overbridge collapse doesn’t happen here.

Happy that this issue of overcrowding the staircase in mysore railway station has been brought up. Also face same situation with rajya rani, wodeyar and chamundi express even if there is no train departing at that time. Lift has no attendant and mostly youngsters get into it. Some platforms have no escalators or 2nd staircase
This is not the only time it happens. The same problem arises in the afternoon when rajyarani express arrives. The problem is that the stairs are only on one side. People alight as well as climb the same set of stairs and it’s utter chaos
The upgoing escalator on the 6th platform will not be working majority of the times and it is very difficult to climb the steps for senior citizens and bp patients.
Theft is also rampant in the running trains under SWR . Ramanagra, Chennapatna and Srirangapattana are the hot spots of this crime. Even AC coaches are not safe. Railway staff members and security personnel are often not found on their designated place. Victim passengers are discouraged if they want to lodge a complaint.

Whether platforms are increased or not, but Mysore railway station should surely think of new solution to solve this problem as this is creating lot of problems to people especially kids and old age. People don’t bother about anyone and they keep pushing and hitting others and walk away. Also Karnataka government should think of alternatives to shorten the travel be time between Bangalore to Mysore. It takes almost 3.5 to 4.5 hrs to travel from Bangalore krishnarajapuram to Mysore. Trains are halted for crossing and they don’t maintain time. This is creating lot of problems for people. Just for 150 kms distance this travel time is too much. Hope some action will be taken care by railways and government. People end up sitting for long hours for signal to board to railway station or for crossing. Hope everyone is realising this pain when travelling from Bangalore to Mysore
Isn’t it time we made govt officials accountable n responsible? 75 years after the British rule n yet here we are asking for basic amenities n our right to live a decent life as a citizen.
because railway officials in Mysore are mostly or even all of them are non kannadigas and from North India. Inhumane is common element. They are not sensitive for the plight of Kannadigas
Yes, it is risky. Handling of trains at the Mysore station is beyond it’s capacity. It is not that they are not aware of the impending risk of handling pax at peak time, but, helpless due to inadequate number of platforms. Till they augument adequate Platforms, they need to evolve some method as suggested above to avoid danger. Hope for improvement
We been hearing from senior railway officials that there is no adequate space to construct additional platform from day one of trains updated to metergage to broadgage but we can see other developments where 30% commuters friendly and rest God knows. Everything Railway department wakes up after disaster happens. Hoping this time they take immediate and necessary action on commuters safety.

These students also use people smugglers to put them on boats to take them to Australia, for the same purpose.
India has nearly 1000 universities, yey these students want to escape from India.
There are 200, 000 students dropped out of universities in England, and have become illegal immigrants refusing to get deported back to India. Hundreds of Indian doctors who failed the entrance exams to practice in England. Narendra Modi refuses to take them back.
India has overtaken China in terms of its population, every piece of land is used for housing, including forest clearing, driving leopards out, so that they visit cities these days! Indians are breeding like rats.
No transport system can handle these many humans India produces. They are a menace the entire world.

Mysuru has two more stations , which can be used to reduce the number of passengers at Mysuru junction.
Blaming is easy, can we suggest anything to avoid stampede?

please come and have look at stations like coimbatore madhurai Tirunelveli under SR u will say MYSURU is fairly faar better , many important Statons in TN don’t have basic amenities like lift or escalator facilities.

Are your brains are so demented that you cannot work out why these stampedes occur so despite many trains run from this station?
Because, Mysore is overcrowded with people who have come to settle down, as India is undergoing massive population explosion.
You Indians multiply like rabbits and rats so quickly that no mode of transport, no matter how many there are-trains, buses, cars etc.. are suffice for these many residents to travel. You will see soon, Mysore-Bangalore Highway, the 10 lanes of it will be insufficient for the massive population.
As a poster said, India with its huge population, is a menace to the whole Western world, as Indians-sttudents and others rush to settle in the West through any illegal means.
Your PM Mdi must be proud of this situation. Send photographs of this stampede to him, and his chela MP Simha. Modi’s brother Prahlad and his family-yes, he has a dynasty after accusing the Gandhis if necessary will simply b y-pass this stampede and be seated in a first class carriage of their own with police around them.

Also, the prepaid auto kiosk at the CFTRI side gate of the mysore railway station is closed and autowalas fleece the customers.

You must be a Tamil, and Tamils and others from other states have stampeded into Mysore to live, destroying the once beautiful city. Forests thus go, Leopards finding no habitat start visiting the city. Now this overcrowded Mysore is manifested in this Railway Station.
Hey SHEKAR, stop using annoying capitals, and even your small brain should understand, Mysore is so overpopulated that even another 5 10-lane Mysore-Bangalore highways, and a dozen Railway Stations will not solve this population problem. As a poster said, overcrowded and fast breeding India is a menace to whole Western world.
It happens in blore as well with kaveri express.its nothing to do with the timing of the train.
Its the people who are travelling in kaveri express(kongus).
People should stop this senseless behaviour.
It does not happen with other trains.
Maybe the 2 trains must be accomodated in far off platforms. One on PF.1 and the other on 5 or 6. That should be possible ?
Things are no better at krishnarajapuram railway station. The staircase leading to platforms are over crowded as trains to chennai coimbatore tirupati all arrive one after the other. The stair case is not at all user friendly no matter which staircase one uses.
