Applications have been invited from the students belonging to special category for admission to class six at Morarji Desai Residential School, Kittur Rani Chennamma Residential School, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Residential School, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Residential School and Indira Gandhi Residential School in the taluk,  by July 25, 2024.

Special category students are as follows: children of Safaikarmacharis, manual scavengers, rescued child labourers and bonded labourers, devadasis, single parents, rag pickers, crematorium labourers, orphans, burial ground workers, nomadic and semi-nomadic communities, physically challenged with disability above 25 percent, HIV infected parents, micro communities, servicemen and ex-servicemen, displaced parents of Government projects and the students who have passed fifth standard in Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Ashram Residential Schools.
