‘6G Powered Non-Terrestrial Networks: A New Era of Connectivity’
Mysuru: The National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysuru, recently conducted the AICTE-ATAL-sponsored 12-day Advanced Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “6G Powered Non-Terrestrial Networks: A New Era of Connectivity” in city.
Dr. S.N. Omkar, Chief Research Scientist (Guidance and Control), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, was the chief guest.
In his insightful inaugural address, Dr. Omkar highlighted the transformative potential of technologies like 6G, Artificial Intelligence and UAV-based communication in shaping the future of connectivity and addressing emerging challenges in communication systems.
Dr. S. Parameshwara, Head of the Department, Electronics and Communication Engineering, welcomed.
Dr. Rajalekshmi Kishore, FDP Coordinator, provided an engaging preamble about the programme, outlining its objectives and key topics to be covered.
Raghavendra, Director of Agni Aerospace Academy, emphasised the critical role of UAV technology in diverse applications and its synergy with non-terrestrial networks.
Dr. K.C. Manjunath, Vice- Principal and Dr. Narasimha Kaulgud, Professor, ECE Department, underlined the importance of such initiatives in equipping educators with advanced knowledge and skills for next-generation technologies.
Dr. Salila Hegde proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Likith Kumar (Head, IQAC) and others were present on the occasion.
About 40 participants from engineering colleges across the country attended the FDP which provided in-depth insights and hands-on experience on the latest advancements in 6G and non-terrestrial network technologies, fostering innovation and academic excellence.
