ITC Company too donates an ICU-fitted ambulance

Mysore/Mysuru: In a novel initiative, Agarwal Samaj, Mysuru, donated two OxyBuses to the District Administration at the MCC office here this morning. The Agarwal Samaj, Mysuru, led by S.K. Mittal, has made the donation with support from Greenwood High International School, Bengaluru, whose buses are converted as OxyBuses, also called as Oxygen-on-Wheels.

Speaking after handing over Samaj-donated buses to MCC, MP Pratap Simha said that the two buses are fitted with three jumbo Oxygen cylinders and each bus can cater to the Oxygen needs of 12 patients whose  Oxygen saturation level has dipped below the normal mark.

Lauding the Samaj’s President S.K. Mittal for the donation, he said that the buses will be of great help in addressing the immediate Oxygen needs of deficient home-isolated patients, before they are admitted to hospitals for advanced treatment. 

ITC Limited (earlier India Tobacco Company Ltd.) too donated an ICU-fitted ambulance to the MCC on the occasion.

MLA L. Nagendra, MCC Commissioner Shilpa Nag, Mayor Rukmini Madegowda, Dy. Mayor Anwar Baig, MCC Health Officer Dr. D.G. Nagaraj, Statistical Officer Anil Christie, S.K. Mittal and others were present.

Expresses concern over rising cases in rural areas

Expressing concerns over rising COVID positive cases and fatalities in rural parts of the district, Simha said that 60-70 people have lost their lives due to the pandemic in every taluk of the district in recent days in the second wave of attack of the deadly pandemic, which is alarming. 

Attributing the high rate of positivity and fatalities in rural areas to the negligence of Doctors in rural  areas who are prescribing improper medicines, Simha said that the apathetic attitude of officials in visiting rural and interior parts of the district too is equally responsible for this.

Lauding the work of MCC Commissioner Shilpa Nag  in tackling the deadly virus in city limits, Simha bemoaned that the DC, DHO, ZP CEO and other district level officials had just limited their work to holding virtual meetings.

Expressing disappointment over lack of field work by the District Administration at taluk level, the MP urged top officials to do more field work for checking the rapid spread of the virus in rural and interior parts. He also urged the officials to make regular visits to COVID Care Centres and hospitals at all taluks to check the measures taken.
