 ‘AI cannot replace teacher in education system’

Mysuru: International Seminar on ‘Innovative and Creative Learning for a Sustainable and Inclusive World’ was organised at St. Joseph’s College of Education in Mysuru recently.

The International Seminar was inaugurated by the dignitaries by lighting the lamp.

During the inaugural address, Rev. Fr. Edward William Saldanha, Secretary and Correspondent, MDES, emphasised: “In the world of innovative and creative learning, we cannot forget our inborn learning ability. Though we have AI and Machine Learning, a teacher is very much essential and cannot be replaced, in an education system. So, as educators, we should research on innovative and creative learning methods which sustain the inborn learning ability in teaching-learning process.”

After the inaugural address, the edited book of research papers was released by the dignitaries.

The Resource Persons Dr. M. Prabavathy, Associate Professor and Director, Centre for Differently Abled Persons, Bharathidasan University, Tamil Nadu, Wondifraw Dejene, Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction, Dire-Dawa University, Ethiopia and Dr. Mary George Varghese, Assistant Professor of Education, College of Arts Education and Social Sciences, Abu Dhabi University, Abu Dhabi, UAE, rendered insightful talks on Paradigms of Sustainable Inclusive Education, Creative and Innovative Strategies for Sustainable Development and Sustainable Behaviour Management among Secondary Students respectively.

The event brought together delegates, faculty members, students and distinguished guests from across India and abroad (online mode) to highlight the importance of Inclusion and Sustainability in Education.

Around 80 plus papers were presented in eight parallel sessions on Sustainable Strategies in Education, Innovative Pedagogy for Inclusive Learning, Technology for Equitable Access, Environmental Sustainability, Value-based and Peace-oriented Sustainability, Professional Development for Practitioners, and Innovative Strategies for Entrepreneurship, under the Chairpersons Dr. M. Prabavathy, Dr. B.N. Asha, Prof. G. Sheela, Prof. Ningamma C. Betsur, Prof. M. Pushpa, Dr. B. Sujatha, Dr. H.N. Vishwanath and Dr. Priya Mathew.
