Mysore/Mysuru: Former Minister and State Chief Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides P.G.R. Sindhia has opined that, ‘The fast-pervading Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology may influence the pedagogy in schools in four to five years down the line.’
He was speaking at a workshop for School Education and Literacy Department officials organised at Sri Jayachamarajendra Scouts and Guides Auditorium in city recently.
In the recent days, AI is being incorporated in all the sectors, including the field of academics. In the coming days, the AI may emerge stronger, widely influencing the teaching system. The teachers should be prepared to adapt to the relevant technology, added Sindhia.
The programmes conducted by Bharat Scouts and Guides is oriented towards improving the process of learning for children. However, there are complaints about those enrolled in Scouts and Guides being poor in academics. This year’s State Puraskar Exam dispelled the myth with over 2,000 students scoring above 93%. The NITI Aayog has made Scouts and Guides compulsory at all the States. But, here in Karnataka, it is in force since the tenure of Chief Minister K.C. Reddy. To effectively implement the motive behind Scouts and Guides at school level, the teachers should also contribute effectively, said Sindhia.
Every school should compulsorily train their students in Scouts and Guides, with the teachers also being imparted relevant training. The teachers and students should participate in the camps conducted by Bharat Scouts and Guides. Every schools should have Scouts and Guides unit, he said.
In Karnataka, training in Scouts and Guides is being given to the students since princely rule and hence the quality of training is good. Kannadigas dominate the number of staff at National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), with more number of people getting education through Mutts and Dasoha system. When it comes to education, coastal districts are a way ahead of others, he noted.
District Scouts and Guides Chief Commissioner P. Vishwanath presided. DDPI S.T. Javaregowda, K.B. Gurumurthy and B.K. Basavaraj were present.
