Mysuru lad Arnav Pathange hogged the limelight in the AITA National-level Championship Series GBR Club U-16 & U-18 Tennis Tournament held at Hyderabad from June 25 to 29, by winning a grand double by clinching the boys U-16 Singles and Doubles titles. He also emerged runner-up in the boys U-18 Singles event.
In the Boys U-16 Singles final, Arnav Pathange beat Aryan Bhatia of Maharashtra 6-2, 6-3 to clinch the title. Teaming up with Aman B. Patel, Arnav also clinched the U-16 Doubles title beating Aryan Bhatia and Aditya Nikam 6-4, 6-1 in the final.
In the boys U-18 Singles, Aryan Bhatia (Mah) beat Arnav Pathange 6-4, 7-5 and clinched the Boys Singles title. Earlier in the U-16 Singles semi-finals, Arnav beat Chethan Gadyar 6-3, 6-1 in the semi-finals, beat Pratyush Mohandy (Assam) 6-1, 6-0 in the quarter-finals, beat Mohit Sai Charan Reddy 6-1, 6-0 in the pre-quarter-finals and in the second round beat Prathinav 6-1, 6-2 to progress further.
In the Boys U-18 Singles event, Arnav Pathange entered the title round by beating Chethan Gadyar 6-4, 6-2 in the semi-finals. In the quarter-finals, he beat Deepak Vyara 6-1, 6-3 and in the pre-quarterfinals had a good win over Rishi Rudraksh Mitra 6-1, 6-0. In the first round, Arnav had a easy 6-0, 6-0 win over Ritwik Nadikude and progressed further.
