Mysore/Mysuru: State Backward Classes Welfare Department Commissioner K.A. Dayanand paid a surprise visit to Post Matric Girls Hostel in Kuvempunagar recently and had dinner with the inmates.
Interacting with the hostelites, he advised them to learn on their own more to gain knowledge apart from listening to teachers in Colleges.
“It is not possible to achieve anything in life if you waste 9 months and study only for 3 months to write the exams. But it is possible if you study all through the year. Students should dream big and focus on achieving their goals. Great scientists like Einstein, Thomas Alva Edison and others kept trying even after failing hundreds of times and achieved their goals. Similarly students should work hard without losing focus,” he said.
District Backward Classes Department Officer H.S. Bindya, who spoke on the occasion, disclosed that six new hostel buildings have been opened recently and works of other buildings were in the final stages.
Pointing out that some hostels are being run in private buildings for which a monthly rent of Rs. 22 lakh is being paid, Bindiya appealed the State Backward Classes Welfare Department Commissioner to sanction 4 more buildings.
Taluk Backward Classes Welfare Officer Chandrakala and others were present.
