Construction workers play games, get ticket to cinema
Mysuru: Builders’ Association of India (BAI), Mysore Centre, had organised May Day celebrations on a grand scale with the participation of more than 220 construction workers and their family members.
The day began with a sports meet organised at Maharshi Public School Grounds. Later, the artisans were honoured at Mysore Builders Charitable Trust (MBCT) auditorium, Mysuru.
Earlier, the Sports Meet was inaugurated by MBCT Managing Trustee M.S. Ramprasad by throwing the shot put.
Later all the construction workers and their family members arrived in a procession from Maharshi Public School Grounds to MBCT Auditorium.
Dr. Roopa Sheshadri rendered invocation. V. Srinath, Chairman BAI Mysore Centre, welcomed and emphasised the uniqueness of this year’s celebration, which also included cinema ticket to workers and a day full of sports and entertainment.
M.S. Ramprasad asked the construction workers to utilise the benefits of medical treatment and medicines extended by the MBCT and BAI.
Kavitha Gururaj, President of Spoorthi, the ladies wing of BAI, briefed about the activities and requested the construction workers to utilise the health check-up camps and training programmes conducted in association with BAI.
Cine actress Abhinaya, who was the chief guest, applauded BAI for identifying and awarding the artisans, besides encouraging them by organising sports events and conducting health camps for the benefit of workers and their families.
Twelve artisans who have contributed with meritorious works in the field of construction industry in different capacities were honoured on the occasion.
Prizes were distributed by the chief guest to the winners of the various sports events.
BAI Hon. Secretary C.D. Krishna proposed the vote of thanks. C. Vishwanath compered the programme.
