Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru will celebrate the festive spirit of Krishna Janmashtami with an evening of divine music, as BSS Vidyodaya and Raaga Music Academy launch their new concert series, Bhagini Raaga Saurabha.
The inaugural performance will feature renowned Karnatak flautist Vid. Mysore A. Chandan Kumar tomorrow (Aug. 17) at 6 pm at BSS Vidyodaya in Krishnamurthypuram, Mysuru.
He will be accompanied by Prithvi Bhaskar on violin, Vid. A. Radhesh on mridanga and Vid. Shamith Gowda on ghata.
Profile: Vid. Mysore A. Chandan Kumar is the great-grandson of the legendary violin virtuoso Sangeetha Kalanidhi, Sangeetha Ratna Mysore T. Chowdaiah. Counted among India’s most acclaimed Karnatak flautists, he is celebrated for his gayaki style that captures the lyrical essence of vocal music on the flute, blending technical brilliance with deep raga expression and rhythmic vitality.
A Top-Grade artiste of All India Radio and Doordarshan, Vid. Chandan Kumar trained under Padma Ramachandra, M. Gopalakrishna, Padma Bhushan Dr. T. V. Gopalakrishnan and spent nearly 16 years under the legendary Padma Bhushan P. S. Narayanaswamy.
An empanelled artiste of ICCR and SPIC MACAY, Chandan has toured over a dozen countries, collaborated with Hindustani maestros in jugalbandhi and presented thematic concerts like Music for Meditation & Healing.
