Mysore/Mysuru: Strongly opposing the Centre’s anti-farmer and anti-poor policies, farmer, labour and Dalit organisations have appealed the citizens to support the Bharath Bandh called by various Associations and Unions on Sept. 27.
Addressing a press meet here recently, Samyukta Horata Samithi’s P. Mallesh alleged that the Union Government was pursuing policies that are detrimental to the interests of the farmers, the poor and dalits.
Pointing out that the Centre was unresponsive to the months long mass agitation of farmers who are opposing the three newly introduced farm bills, Mallesh said that the Bharath Bandh called by various Organisations is aimed at attracting the attention of the Centre to the plight of farming and working classes, who are deeply distressed by the faulty policies of the Centre.
Opposing the introduction of the National Education Policy (NEP), which he said was a move aimed at commercialisation of education, he urged the Government to stall the move in the better interests of the student community.
Contending that the Sept. 27 Bharath Bandh will be a decisive battle against the Centre’s anti-people policies, he reiterated his appeal to all Organisations of different sectors for extending their full support to the Bandh.
Swaraj India’s Ugra Narasimhe Gowda, Hoskote Basavaraj, P.S. Sandhya, G.S. Seema, Jagadish Surya and Balaji Rao, representing various organisations were present at the press meet.
