K.R. Nagar: Bodies of two youths, who had gone missing, have been found in the Chamaraja Right Bank Canal.

The bodies have been identified as that of Bharat (20), son of Basavaraju of Chikkadiganahalli village in Hunsur taluk and Prathap (22), son of Huchappa.

It is learnt that Bharat and Prathap left their houses on Sunday morning but did not return even after night following which the family members launched a search for them.

The two-wheelers and footwears of the youths were found on Chamaraja Right Bank Canal bund, near Kuvempu Layout in the town.

The relatives contacted the officials of the Irrigation Department and requested them to reduce the water flow to the canal. When the water flow was reduced, a lot of weeds and garbage had stuck below the bridge. When the weeds were removed, the body of one youth was found in the morning and in the afternoon, the body of another youth was found.

While Bharat was pursuing his graduation course, Prathap was a labourer, it is learnt. The reason for their death is yet to be known.

K.R. Nagar Police have registered a case and are investigating .
