Mysuru: The Election Commission of India has strengthened its Voter Helpline to make it easy for the Voters to get authentic information pertaining to their voter registration. It is an All India Helpline that has been efficiently segregated and mapped to the respective districts.
The enrolled electors in the Electoral Roll can check the details of their personal information, the Polling Station planned for them to visit on the Poll Day and to know the contact details of Booth Level Officers, Electoral Registration Officers and District Election Officers, by calling 1950 Helpline Number.
This number shall receive calls on all working days during office hours. Public can lodge their complaints, suggestions, feedback, and information using this helpline number after providing their identity details. Every call shall be recorded; hence fake calls are discouraged. Callers from every district have been mapped to the respective district Deputy Commissioner’s Office and separate Control Rooms have been established.
However, several Star of Mysore readers have complained that 1950 is not accessible and whenever they dial the number, they will get a “line busy” message. Clarifying on this, the election officers have said that since it is a toll-free number, many voters will be accessing the helpline. They have advised the voters to at least try a couple of times to get through the line.
Since mere possession of EPIC Card is not enough for the electors but their names should also be there in the electoral roll for enabling them to cast their vote on the poll day, it is necessary that the citizens/electors should check if their names figure in the electoral rolls.
