Mysuru/Mysore: “The preaching and principles of Dr. Ambedkar should reach rural population and our urban youth to lead a meaningful life,” opined former Minister A.H. Vishwanath.
He was speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed ‘Vishwa Jnani Auditorium’ at Mysore University Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Research and Extension Centre, Manasagangotri in city recently.
“Shahu Maharaj, who was a King of the Indian princely state of Kolhapur, worked to abolish untouchability from society. Dr. Ambedkar was inspired by Shahu Maharaj. Shahu Maharaj helped Dr. Ambedkar to travel abroad for his higher education. He gained immense knowledge when studying abroad and became a Vishwa Jnani,” he said.
Former Minister C.H. Vijayashankar also spoke on the occasion. University of Mysore Vice-Chancellor Prof. Hemanth Kumar presided over the inaugural function. Bhante Manorakkhita and Bhante Kalyanasiri graced the occasion. Director of Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment D.P. Majhi, President of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Research and Extension Centre Prof. J. Somshekhar and others were present.
