Sri Ramakrishna Mahasangha Vice-President Swami Bhajananandaji said that chanting of Mantras will help in ending ignorance amongst us and also help in acquiring spiritual knowledge and experiencing spiritualism.
He was delivering a special talk on ‘Mantra Shakti’ organised at Sri Ramakrishna Ashram on KRS Road here on Sunday.
Pointing out that there is a lot of difference between the words that we commonly use and Mantras, Swami Bhajananandaji said that we have to question ourselves about why we should often chant Mantras and what are the results that we get by chanting Mantras.
“The words, language and phrases that we generally use will help in communicating with others. Teachers are a classic example for this as their knowledge will disseminate to students as they teach. But there is a lot of difference in the strength of words and the strength of Mantras. Mantras have the communicative power to reach the God that we pray,” he said.
Continuing, he said: “Patanjali Maharshi, in his Yogasutra narrative, has said that reaching out to our favourite God is possible by chanting Mantras. Having Darshan does not mean that we see God who stands literally before us. God can only be seen and experienced only in our inner self.” This is the communicative and expressive power of Mantras, he added.
Sri Ramakrishna Ashram Mysuru President Swami Muktidanandaji, in his address, said that we should understand the hidden strength of our Shastras and Mantras and chant them daily and thus enhance the spiritualism among us.
Sri Ramakrishna Ashram Sadhus and devotees were present on the occasion.
