Mysuru: Patients admitted at city’s Cheluvamba Hospital can heave a sigh of relief as the hospital has got 25 cots which have been put at vacant spaces in the hospital blocks. Due to lack of cots, patients, especially the pregnant women and post delivery patients including just-born babies, were forced to sleep on the floor of the hospital.
Star of Mysore had highlighted the plights of the patients at the hospital under the title ‘Cheluvamba Hospital faces ‘Bed Trouble’ even as it sees rise in maternity cases’ on June 18, following which MLA L. Nagendra visited the hospital and had expressed regrets besides taking the staff to task. MP R. Dhruvanarayan, who had chaired a meeting on Friday last at the ZP auditorium, had asked the hospital’s head to submit a proposal.
Now, the hospital has got 25 cots from PKTB Hospital and the cots have been put in available spaces in A, B and C Blocks at the hospital.
Some patients who were sleeping on beds on the floor at the hospital have been shifted to the cots and tender has been called for 100 more cots.
Disclosing this to SOM, Cheluvamba Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Radhamani said that 25 cots have been procured from PKTB Hospital, which have been put at available spaces in the hospital and added that a proposal to call for a tender to buy 100 more cots has been sent through the hospital’s Dean and Director which is waiting for approval.
Now a chance to make money by calling Tender, getting cheap cots for record purpose. Anyhow Govt is not going save any penny out of it. Why cant they order to a company who deals with cots. So that they are fully Guarantee responsiblity.
Instead of calling for Tender, they could place this to any local Welding shops, where they can do this even better quality.
