K.R. Pet: The children of a man, who was declared brain dead by the doctors of a private hospital in Mysuru, have donated the organs of their father thus displaying humanitarian concern.
Details: Mogannegowda (65), a resident of Ganjigere Koppal in the taluk, who complained of severe headache and bleeding a week back, was rushed to JSS Hospital in Mysuru by his family members.
The doctors, who examined Mogannegowda, came to know that he was brain dead due to severe blood pressure and told his family members that Monnegowda would not live long.
On advice from Dr. Vasan, Mogannegowda’s sons Ramesh, Ravish and Chandru decided to donate their father’s organs and gave their consent for organ donation, thus saving the lives of ten people.
Dr. Vasan said that Mogannegowda’s kidneys, heart, skin and eyes could be harvested and can be transplanted to those awaiting organs. Following the organs harvesting procedure, the body was handed over to the family members. Last rites were performed at Ganjigere Koppal this noon, according to family sources.
