Mysuru:  A plethora of various civic issues affecting the lives were poured out before District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa at the District-level Janaspandana programme held at Zilla Panchayat auditorium in city on Monday.

The Janaspandana programme which was organised by the District Administration received good response from the people, who came from different parts of the district and submitted their memorandums which were received by the District Minister and Deputy Commissioner (DC) G. Lakshmikanth Reddy who instructed officials to solve their problems.

Most of the problems were related to the Revenue Department, particularly related to land. In addition, applications seeking employment, BPL card, payment of arrears and others were also received by District Administration.

H.D. Kote’s Kempashetty appealed the District Minister to release the payment for constructing Ashraya House which was not done even after one year of the completion of the house. Shivashetty, a visually impaired resident of Ekalavyanagar, said that he has been allotted a house on the fourth floor and pleaded that he be given a house elsewhere as all the members of his family are visually impaired and finding it difficult to move up and down the stairs. The Minister assured him that his application will be considered on humanitarian grounds.

A total of 32 land losers whose lands were acquired by the Government at Karakanahalli, near Yelwal Gram Panchayat for the highway, in their petitions complained that they have not been given any compensation after acquiring their lands. The DC told them that records are being verified in this connection and eligible land losers will be given compensation. DC Lakshmikanth Reddy said that new BPL cards will be issued for eligible persons from Oct.1.

Citizens had to wait for about two hours for the programme to begin as the meeting which was slated to be held at 10.30 am began around 12.30 pm as the District Minister arrived two hours late.

Though shamiyana and chairs were provided for the people, they were feeling uncomfortable. After the Minister’s arrival, people who had registered their names were let in one by one to the auditorium where the Minister and DC listened to their problems. The programme went on up to 3 pm. Congress leader Basavanna appealed the Minster to immediately take up the asphalting work on MG Road to which the Minister readily gave his consent in view of the Dasara.

The Minister also directed officials to release the pending salary for the Social Welfare Department staff, who had worked during COVID pandemic.
