Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Mysore Vasudevacharya’s house, which is fast turning out to be a centre of attraction for the musicians visiting the city, will be hosting two concerts tomorrow (July 30)
The first concert, scheduled for two hours between 10 am and 12 noon, will be presented on Veena by Dr. R.S. Jayalakshmi and Charulatha Chandrasekhar from Chennai. Vid. P.S. Sridhar will accompany these artistes on mridanga.
Dr. Jayalakshmi, who had her veena training from Vid. R. Parthasarathi and Vid. R. Pichumani, is a Professor at Madras University and has been teaching music for over 30 years. Charulatha Chandrashekhar, granddaughter of Vid. Jayalakshmi, is a child prodigy, having been on the concert circuit since her 9th year. Mridangist Vid. P.S. Sridhar is an established artiste having accompanied many seniors in concerts all over Karnataka.
The second concert for the day will be a combined performance of Vid. G. Ravikiran on flute and Vid. Hemmige Prashanth on vocal. These artistes will be accompanied by Vid. Keshava Mohan Kumar on violin, Vid. A. Radhesh on mridanga and Vid. Shamith Gowda on ghata.
All these are established artistes having been on the concert circuit for some years. This concert is scheduled for two hours between 3.30 pm and 5.30 pm.
Both the concerts are open to all the music lovers.
Sri Vasudevacharya’s house is situated near Basaveshwara circle on New Sayyaji Rao Road in Agrahara. Sri Acharya, acknowledged as the foremost composer of the 20th century in Karnatak music, lived in this house for about over two decades since 1932 and served the cause of music, hosting many musicians from across the country and teaching numerous youngsters. The house is now a structure listed among the heritage structures in the city.
