Concerts at Nadabrahma Sabha from tomorrow

Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha is organising four concerts during next week from May 28 to 31 to celebrate 156th Birth Anniversary of Mysore K. Vasudevacharya and Flute Mali Memorial Concerts at its premises on JLB Road in city.

On May 28 at 6 pm, for 156th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Sangeetha Kalanidhi Mysore K. Vasudevacharya, a vocal concert by Dr. Nagavalli Nagaraj accompanied by Vidu. Pruthvi Bhaskar on violin, Vid. Phanindra Bhaskar on mridanga & Vid. V.S. Ramesh on morching has been arranged, where she sings most of the compositions composed by Vasudevacharya. The programme is an endowment by late K.V. Murthy.

On May 29 at 6 pm, T.R. Mahalingam (Flute Mali) Memorial Concert sponsored by Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha, Mysuru, is being presented through a flute concert by Vid. T.R. Srinath. Vidu. Pruthvi Bhaskar on violin, Vid. G.S. Ramanujan on mridanga and Vid. V.S. Ramesh on morching will accompany him.

On May 30 at 6 pm, T.R. Mahalingam (Flute Mali) Memorial Concert sponsored by Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha, Mysuru. Vid. V. Vamshidhar on flute will be supported by Vidu. Aditi Krishna Prakash on violin, Vid. Tumkur B. Ravishnkar on mridanga and Vid. T.N. Ajay on ghata.

On May 31 at 6 pm, T.R. Mahalingam (Flute Mali) Memorial Concert sponsored by Mali Samsmarana Vedike, founded by late A.V. Prakash, being the Punya Tithi of the flute legend. Honouring of Vid. H.S. Venugopal with the title ‘Venu Brahma’ followed by a flute concert by  Vid. Achyuth M. Athreya with Vid. Venkatesh Josier on violin, Vid. Vikram Bharadwaj on mridanga and Vid. Srinidhi R. Koundinya on ghata.

Conferring of ‘Venu Brahma’ title on Vid. H.S. Venugopal on May 31

Vid. H.S. Venugopal will be conferred with the title ‘Venu Brahma’ at Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha on JLB Road in city on May 31 at 6 pm.

PROFILE

Hemmige Sreenivasamurthy (H.S.) Venugopal was born to H.S. Jayalakshmi and H.S. Sreenivasamurthy on Dec. 25, 1959. He had his initial lessons in Karnatak flute under Vid. A.V. Prakash in Mysuru and later under Vid. M.S. Srinivasa Murthy in Bengaluru. He has the very rare recognition of a performer as both a soloist and as an accompanying artiste for over 40 years now. As a solo performer, he has performed extensively in many of the major Sabhas of the State, country and abroad. Performed for AIR, Doordarshan and other TV channels. He has composed music for plays including ‘Mandhra’ (A drama-based on the novel by Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa), ‘Yegdagella aithe’, ‘Santha Saakshaathkaara’ to name a few. He is a globetrotter. He has many awards and                                                                                     titles to his credit.
