‘VAGUS-2022’ UG medical conference concludes
Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that continuous learning is the secret of success in medical profession, Adichunchanagiri University Vice-Chancellor Dr. M.A. Shekar said that the ultimate goal of doctors should be to ensure the physical health of the entire society.
He was speaking after inaugurating ‘VAGUS-2022,’ a UG medical conference, organised by Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) as part of its centenary celebration in 2024, which was held at the MMC&RI Platinum Jubilee Hall in J.K. Grounds here on Saturday.
Stressing on the need for doctors to be caring towards patients visiting them for various health issues, Dr. Shekar said that having a good circle of friends and fellow professionals will help a lot in life.
JSS Medical College Principal Dr. H. Basavana Gowdappa said doctors are recognised for their work and continuous learning helps in getting recognition.
Stating that medical students should understand that failure is the stepping stone for success, he said that students must be ready to accept success and failures on equal terms. Doctors should serve the society with total dedication, he added.
The two-day VAGUS-2022 concluded last evening with workshops, competitions and cultural events. More than 830 students from various Medical Colleges took part in the event and showcased their talents at the conference. Prizes were distributed to all those who had won in competitions.
Presiding over the valedictory, MMC&RI Dean and Director Dr. H.N. Dinesh said, “This kind of medical conference for UG medical students will not happen anywhere. The first ‘VAGUS’ conference was held in 2018. Due to COVID-19, the College could not hold the event for the last two years. But this year it was a success.”
He said that the conference has encouraged the students to realise their area of interest and pursue it in the coming days. “
MMC&RI faculty Dr. Shubratha S. Hegde, Dr. G. Siddesh of Sigma Hospital, MMC&RI Students’ Association members M.O. Sushmitha, V. Arjun, Sumanth Chandramouli and others were present.
