Daksha College hosts thought-provoking session on ‘Climate Change’

February 13, 2025

Mysuru: Daksha College, Mysuru, hosted a  thought-provoking session titled ‘Climate Change: Impact on Education and Health,’ in collaboration with SVYM and Yi Mysuru Chapter, recently.

Over 120 students of Daksha College Degree students gathered to engage in one of the most pressing global challenges of our time.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Seetharam, Co-Founder of SVYM, led an engaging and interactive discussion on the far-reaching effects of climate change.

He highlighted the destructive impact of climate change on daily life, warning about its consequences for future generations. Dr. Seetharam also delved into how changing pre-monsoon rain patterns are affecting farmers and the shifting pollution cycle that poses significant health hazards.

He emphasised the disturbing ways in which pesticides are disrupting the food chain, contributing to the endangerment of species, and the deterioration of education systems due to environmental stress and health-related issues. In his address, Dr. Seetharam called for more than just the conventional “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” approach to combating climate change.

Instead, he urged the audience to “Refuse and Respond” advocating for mindful consumption and responsible decision-making.

The session concluded with the Yi anthem, sparking a sense of responsibility among students to take small, meaningful steps to make a greater impact. Through such initiatives, Daksha College and Yi Mysuru continue to lead the charge in empowering youth to become change-makers for a sustainable future.
