Mysore/Mysuru: The Karnataka State Transport Department has announced that tourist vehicles from other States heading to Mysuru for the Dasara festival will be exempted from paying permit tax or entry tax.
This exemption, which takes effect on Sept. 22, will remain in force until the conclusion of the festivities on Oct. 2. The waiver aims to encourage a greater influx of tourists to Mysuru during the grand celebrations.
According to the official notification, the waiver applies exclusively to tourist vehicles entering Mysuru and Srirangapatna taluk in Mandya, which houses popular attractions such as Brindavan Gardens, KRS Dam and Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary.
The exemption covers only vehicles registered outside Karnataka that are operating under special permits. The Transport Department clarified that the move has been introduced in the public interest under provisions of the Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1957.
Only vehicles travelling specifically to Mysuru and Srirangapatna during this period will benefit from the tax break, provided they obtain the mandatory special permits.
