District-level Rajyotsava award-winning journalists feted

Mysore/Mysuru:  Mysore Ladies Association felicitated five city-based journalists who recently received District Kannada Rajyotsava Award, during the Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations held at District Kannada Sahitya Parishat at Vijayanagar, in city yesterday.

Journalists M.T. Yogesh Kumar and Photo-Journalist Lakshminarayana Yadav of Star of Mysore, K.B. Ramesh Nayaka, M. Mahesh Bhageeratha and Photo-journalist Hampa Nagaraj who received District Rajyotsava award were felicitated along with photo-journalists S.R. Madhusudan and M.S. Basavanna (Anurag Basavaraj).

Earlier, Zoo Authority of Karnataka former Chairperson Mallige Veeresh and President of Mysore Ladies Association, who inaugurated the Rajyotsava celebrations, said that called upon Kannadigas to engage themselves in activities to promote Kannada language irrespective of their professions to further enrich the legacy of our mother tongue.

“The 70th Kannada Rajyotsava is being celebrated with great flair across Karnataka. The profound legacy of Kannada is being hailed by every one. But our love towards Kannada should not be restricted to mere month-long celebrations during  November,” she said. 

She also urged people from other States residing in Karnataka to learn and respect                             Kannada language.

Continuing, she said added that Mysore Ladies Association, which has been celebrating Kannada Rajyotsava for the last 24 years, would be soon organising  Women’s Conference at Dasara Exhibition Grounds next month.

As part of the celebrations, members and guests showered flower petals to the portrait of Goddess Bhuvaneshwari. Association members rendered songs authored by Kuvempu, Da.Ra. Bendre apart from Kannada movie songs featuring Dr. Rajkumar, Dr. Vishnuvardhan and Dr. Ambarish.

Association Vice-President Pavithra, Secretary Vidya, Treasurer Prabha and other members were present on the occasion.
