Mysore/Mysuru: Vishnu Seva Samithi in association with Karunamayi Vishnu Abhimanigala Balaga had organised a function to present Dr. Vishnuvardhan Seva Awards at a private hotel in city on Sept. 20.
The awards were presented to achievers in various divisions in the film industry by former Mayor Sandesh Swamy.
Speaking on the occasion, Sandesh Swamy said that though the late actor Dr. Vishnuvardhan was a native of Mysuru, he was famous all over the world through his acting.
Pointing out that Vishnuvardhan’s movies were family-oriented with messages to the society, Sandesh Swamy said that the later actor was providing opportunities for new talents.
Stating that it was not wrong to say that it was Vishnuvardhan who gave the concept of establishing ‘Film City’ in Mysuru, the former Mayor said that Dr. Vishnuvardhan also fought for Kannada land, water and Kannada language.
Those who received the awards are: T. Narasipur Shivu, Ramakrishna Hosahalli, Mahendra Singh Kalappa of Bannur, Somashekar of Doora, Samiuklla of H.D. Kote and Mysuru’s Mubarak and Siddappa.
Social Worker Dr. K. Raghuram Vajpayee, Congress leader N.M. Naveen Kumar, Sri Ilai Alwar Swamiji of Melukote, Hotel Owners Association President C. Narayanagowda, Girish, Krishnaraja Co-op. Bank Vice-President Basavaraj Basappa, Vishnu Seva Samithi President M.D. Parthasarathy, Apoorva Suresh, Kadakola Jagadish, Gangadhar Gowda, Karunamayi Vishnu Abimanigala Balaga’s S.N. Rajesh, Vikram Iyengar, Ajay Shastri and others were present.
