Erratic, speedy movement of vehicles pose threat at dawn

February 12, 2023

Sir,

During early mornings, many citizens, especially elderly, go for a walk from 5 am on the main roads as parks are ill lit and not maintained properly.

During this hour, vehicle users — four-wheelers and two- wheelers — speed past and move in an erratic way by not going around Circles, hitting wrong way  without turning on the headlights and so on.

Here the pedestrians are least cared for, unlike the European countries where top preference is given to pedestrians, followed by cyclists.

One-way, pedestrian crossings, lane discipline and Circles are blatantly ignored much to the inconvenience and danger to pedestrians.

I feel this is all because of improper education regarding motor driving and no strict testing during theoretical and practical learning of motorists before issuing the Driving Licence (DL).
