Female elephant dies at Dubare Elephant Camp

Kushalnagar: Mythili (52), a female elephant at Dubare Elephant Camp in Kodagu, died yesterday due to illness.

Mythili, which had given birth to two calves at the camp, was suffering from illness since a few days and had become serious on Monday. Though Mythili was being treated by Hunsur Wildlife Division Veterinarian Dr. Mujeeb, the elephant died yesterday following heart attack.

Dr. Mujeeb conducted the post-mortem following which the forest staff, mahouts and kavadis performed puja. Later, the elephant was buried.

Kushalnagar RFO Arun, Dubare DCF Ranjan, Devi Prasad and others were present.
