Language used at political meetings going deplorable: Theatre Director
Mysuru: A five-day ‘Niranthara Ranga Utsava,’ organised by Niranthara Foundation, commenced at Vanaranga in Rangayana premises here last evening.
Speaking at the inaugural function, theatre Director Prasad Kundoor of Niranthara, expressed apprehension over the continued decline in quality of language being spoken in society. Referring to political meetings, he regretted that highly offensive language was being freely used driving politics into a dangerous level.
He observed that feelings of people, attitude towards art and literature were undergoing changes and added that human values were going down badly.
He averred that the medium of theatre alone can reveal naked truth which may drive an artiste into a minority group.
Artistes of Rangayana, Dharwar, staged the play ‘Swapnavasavadatta’ on the inaugural day. Prior to the inauguration, B.K. Narasimharaju and troupe from Bevinahalli in Sira Taluk, presented Arevadhya and Somana Kunita.
Kannada and Culture Director N.R. Vishukumar, Rangayana Jt. Director Mallikarjuna Swamy and others were present.
Today at 7 pm, Sri Gajanana Yuvaka Mandali, Sheshagiri, will stage the play ‘Vaali Vadhe.’
