Mysuru: Even as the Government extended the deadline for issuance of B-khatas to property owners, former Corporator Savitha Suresh has urged the Government to end the broker menace in issuance of B-khatas.
In a press statement, Savitha said that following the appeal of MLAs G.T. Devegowda and G.D. Harish Gowda in the State Assembly, the Govt. extended the deadline by three months, which is laudable. But the problem is that brokers and middlemen have used this opportunity to swindle money from property owners who apply for B-khatas.
Pointing out that B-khatas are being issued only for properties registered in the Sub-Registrar offices, Savitha said that brokers are fleecing building owners to the tune of Rs. 30,000 on the promise of getting Khata done. Though the MLAs have asked the property owners to directly contact the MCC officials, the brokers are coming in between and fleecing the gullible property owners, she maintained.
Pointing out that according to an estimate, there are about 4,000 unauthorised buildings in Janatanagar (MCC Ward 44), she said that only about 25 percent of them are registered while 75 percent are unregistered. These property owners have built houses and are living in them after getting a Sale Deed through Notaries. Noting that now, such unregistered property owners are facing concerns, she said that the Government must intervene and facilitate unregistered property owners too to get B-khatas.
