Mysuru: S. Krishnakumar (79), a retired IAS Officer and former Chairman and Managing Director of the Mysuru’s erstwhile Vikrant Tyres (now JK Tyres) on KRS road in the city,  passed away at a private hospital in Bengaluru on Jan.29.

A resident of RMV Extension in Bengaluru, Krishnakumar is survived by his wife Vilasini Kumar, two sons, a daughter and a host of relatives and friends.

A 1969 batch IAS Officer, Krishnakumar had served as Chairman and Managing Director of Vikrant Tyres from 1989 to 1992, which was then a Public Sector Undertaking. He had also served as Mysuru Deputy Commissioner and held several other top posts in the State.

Last rites were performed at Hebbal Crematorium in Bengaluru yesterday, according to family sources.
