Srirangapatna, Apr. 8 (Vinay Karekura&BCT)- Four persons died of drowning in separate incidents in the tourist place of Srirangapatna and its surrounding areas yesterday.
In the first incident, two youths drowned at Balamuri picnic spot where River Cauvery flows. They have been identified as 23-year-old Dhananjaya, a resident of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Nagar in Mysuru and 31-year-old Prasanna, a bank employee and a resident of Vajamangala.

Both Dhananjaya and Prasanna had come to Srirangapatna for a family gathering and had reached Balamuri after the function. Dhananjaya lost balance while playing with flowing water on the Balamuri’s steps and he fell to the river and reached out for help.

Seeing this, Prasanna jumped into the water to save Dhananjaya. However, both were drawn to the water due to strong currents. The Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) Police arrived at the spot and made arrangements to fish out the dead bodies by expert swimmers. The bodies were shifted to Manipal Hospital in Mysuru for further procedures and a case has been registered at KRS Police Station.
