Gayana Sabha’s Hindustani Music Concerts tomorrow

Mysuru: Gayana Sabha, Mysuru, has organised Hindustani Music concerts on Mar.2 at Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha on JLB Road here.

Aniruddh Aithal will present a vocal recital at 5.30 pm, followed by sitar by Ustad Hafiz Bale Khan. They will be accompanied by Pandit Bhima Shankar Bidanur on tabla and Deepak Nagannavar on harmonium.

Profile: Aniruddh Aithal, at the age of twenty, is a promising artiste who has been training for the past eight years under the guidance of Geetha Garud and Dr. Ashok Huggannavar. He won second place in All India Radio National-level Completion for the year 2017-18, and was awarded B-Grade artiste status. There are many other accolades to his credit like CCRT National Scholarship, scholarship by Kannada and Culture Department, Karnataka, and medals in several National and State-level Competitions. He has performed at prestigious platforms including Sawai Gandharva Sangeethotsav, Gayana Samaja-Bengaluru, Bharathiya Sangeetha Vidyalaya-Dharwad, to name a few.

Aniruddh is pursuing engineering in Bengaluru. He is a star among the new breed of musicians who endeavour to balance both technical and artistic pursuits.

Ustad Hafiz Khan belongs to the Dharwad-Kirana Gharana. He has carved a unique niche for himself in Sitar, over and above the lineage he has inherited.

Hafiz Khan was born in 1980 in Dharwad, and hails from a family of musicians dating back to six generations. His great-grandfather, Sitar Rathna Rahimat Khan was a well-known musician. His grandfather Ustad Abdul Karim Khan, and father Ustad Bale Khan were great Sitar players.

Hafiz Khan started learning Sitar and vocal at a young age of seven under his grandfather and father. Rigorous practice sessions have perfected him in all the aspects of Gayaki Ang, melodious and elaborate alaap, rhythmical Jod and superbly presented Jhaala.

In addition to Sitar, he also excels in many genres of Hindustani vocal such as Khayal, Thumri and Ghazals. He specialises in Vachanas, Dasarapadas and Meera Bhajans.

Hafiz Khan is an approved artiste of AIR and Doordarshan. He has extensively performed in India, UK, USA and in most of the Gulf countries.
