Mysuru, Apr.26-Ganabharathi has organised a special programme “Geethantharanga” on April 27. At 6 pm, Vidu. Geetha Seetharam will give a vocal concert featuring krithis composed by herself. She will be accompanied by Vid. C. N. Thyagarajan on violin and Vid. P. S. Sridhar on mridanga. This will be followed by a Bharathanatya recital by Vidu. Mitra Naveen and troupe at 7.30 pm based on the compositions of Geetha Seetharam.
Vidu. Geetha Seetharam is a popular artiste and a composer from Mysuru. Through her school Geethanjali she has been imparting music to disciples and has also performed numerous concerts abroad. She is also adept in conducting workshops, which has won appreciation in both India and abroad. Being a creator of new ragas, she has translated hundreds of krithis of Saint Thyagaraja into Kannada and has also composed a Sangeetha Roopaka “Thyagaraja Ramayana.”
A post-graduate in both Bharathanatya and English Literature, Vidu. Mitra Naveen is a disciple of Vidu. Krishnaveni, Vid. Muralidhara Rao and Vidu. Kripa Phadke. Being a graded artiste of Doordarshan, she is also imparting Bharathanatya to hundreds of students through Nadavidyalaya Institute of Music and Dance. She has also choreographed various Nritya Roopakas and has performed in prestigious cultural gatherings. She is also awarded with the title Kalpashree and Sarvashree.
